Select Board · Meeting of October 1, 2026
NORTON — The Norton Select Board waived town fees for a Habitat for Humanity home at 14 Island Road and approved a common victualer license for a new bar pizza shop. Board member Mr. Kimball said the town has informally waived fees for four prior Habitat homes since the early 2000s and argued the practice should continue, saying "any savings we can offer makes it that much more affordable in the long run." Construction lead Stephen Manny of Old Colony Habitat for Humanity said the new three-bedroom home should take nine to ten months to build, with a goal of moving a family in by July or August.
The board also approved road closures on Summer Street and West Main Street for two Halloween events this month, signed the warrant for the November 3 state election, approved two invoice warrants and a payroll warrant, and briefly entered executive session to discuss litigation strategy after initially misstating the session's purpose.
