Norton Select Board Sets Town Hall as September Primary Polling Location

NORTON — June 18, 2026 — Norton Select Board designates Town Hall as the September 1 primary polling site and hears police reaccreditation news. The board voted unanimously to hold the state primary at 72 East Main Street from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., after interim Town Clerk Stella Young identified a state requirement to rotate from the school used in the prior cycle. Town Manager disclosed that approximately 6,000 Norton residents were automatically removed from voter rolls for failing to return census forms and will receive re-registration mailers. The Norton Police Department was separately recognized for earning a three-year reaccreditation from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission on June 11, having passed 268 mandatory and 66 optional professional standards. The board's town accountant search was declared stalled — all three interview candidates either withdrew or declined to continue — and the position has been reposted, with interim accountant Eric Kinsherff extending through at least July. The board's next meeting was rescheduled from July 2 to July 9 to allow end-of-year fund transfers to clear before the July 15 statutory deadline.
