Conservation Commission · Meeting of October 26, 2026

NORTON — The Norton Conservation Commission declined to sign off on a rail trail drainage repair, pressing the town manager for input before accepting a swale design members called functionally flawed. Chair Lisa Carrozza said the path stayed wet for roughly six months after storms, calling it more than "a mild nuisance," while a MassDOT contractor representative said the facility was built and permitted to minimize wetland fill impacts and does not constitute a design flaw. The commission continued a stormwater hearing for 181 West Main Street after Carrozza said the applicant had been told three times, including by the state Department of Environmental Protection, that the plan failed to meet stormwater standards: "It's a waste of the commission's time that this package did not meet the regulations." Four certificates of compliance passed unanimously, covering properties on Sturdy Street, Taunton Ave, Charlotte Ave and King Philip Road.

The board also continued an unpermitted clearing violation at 16 South Washington Street to November 9 and heard a preliminary Eagle Scout restoration proposal for the Camp Watitia pavilion area.
