Norton Conservation Commission conditionally authorizes enforcement order for West Main Street property

NORTON — June 22, 2026 — Norton Conservation Commission conditionally authorizes an enforcement order targeting a West Main Street property owner who has missed restoration deadlines for nearly a year. The commission voted 4-0 Monday to approve an enforcement order for 181 West Main Street that takes effect automatically on July 2, 2026, if a July 1 site inspection finds restoration plantings incomplete under the terms of an April 13, 2026 site plan the owner had agreed to. The conservation director, who met with the owner the prior week, told the commission "they've been telling us that for the last 10, 11 months" about their intent to comply. A second violation at 292 West Main Street — involving an expanded gravel yard within a riverfront buffer zone — drew sharp words from the director, who told the consultant for that property, Nicole Hayes of Goddard Consulting, to produce an overlay analysis of historical versus new disturbance or face an enforcement motion at the July 13 meeting. The commission also voted 4-0 on a Positive 2A determination for Mass Coastal Railway's routine vegetation management renewal and approved a minor plan change for 225 South Worcester Street, file 250-1175.
